Keweenaw Trumpeter Swan Survey  2020

Increasing numbers of nesting Trumpeter Swans led me to do an extensive survey of Trumpeters in the three Keweenaw counties (Keweenaw, Houghton and Baraga).

This pair nested on a remote beaver pond in the Ottawa N.F.

This pair nests in a wetland along the Sturgeon River in Houghton County.  For four years they lost all their young before fall.  This year they successfully raised five young to maturity.

Not all swans are nesting out in the wilds.   This pair has nested a couple years at the Swedetown marsh near Calumet.
